I am so pissed. I just wrote an entire entry and accidently hit a back arrow or something. In any case, it erased everything i just wrote. Grrrr.....
What I was saying was that I completed day two of my new teacher induction. We really didn't learn very much, other than when we are getting paid and even that was a struggle. I'm sure that one day we will get some practical information. My new principal is throwing a get-together for new teachers at my school. I should be getting some good info there. Today, we were "Wonged." We got the Harry Wong book and watched some of his video series for new teachers. It's all very upbeat and inspirational, but I still don't what to do to start the year. I'm sure once I get a routine established and I can actually get to the TEACHING, it will be fine. It's just all the procedures and rules and parental pressures and character development and paperwork and million other things teachers are expected to do that is getting to me.
Over the weekend, the pressure was really making me blue. I IMed my guy friend from college, but he was busy and didn't respond. I told him I was down and I might call him later. I was shocked when he called me! He has a horrible reputation for never returning or making calls. I've and watched him ignore a ringing phone because he didn't want to get up. He figured they would leave a message or call back or something else that would require less effort on his part than getting up to answer the phone. So, when I heard his voice on the other end of the line, it was quite a surprise. It really cheered me up to chat with him. I miss hanging out and watching tv.
Speaking of guys calling back, the no-call online personal guy called me yesterday while I was at my inservice. Since he didn't call for a week, I figured it might look bad if I grabbed the phone and dialed as soon as I got home. Desperate and the like. I'm not really good at the whole "games" thing, but being honest and direct hasn't really been my friend in the past. So, I called him today. I left a message. He hasn't called yet, so I guess he isn't in the whole "honest and direct" business either.
